Shopify vs custom: choosing the right stack

When a storefront platform wins — and when a custom build is worth the investment.

Shopify vs custom: choosing the right stack

Shopify is excellent when you need to launch quickly, accept payments reliably, and grow without reinventing checkout. Many brands in Pakistan scale happily on it with a strong theme and CRO work.

Custom commerce makes sense when your catalogue logic, B2B pricing, or integrations cannot fit cleanly into a SaaS storefront — or when total cost of ownership favours ownership.

The wrong choice usually comes from ego, not requirements. Map products, payments, shipping, and admin workflows first. Then pick the stack that protects margin and speed-to-market.

Whichever path you take, design still decides whether people buy. A polished theme with weak UX loses to a simpler store that feels trustworthy.
